That\u2019s because these prosthetics don\u2019t just replace a small section of enamel- they\u2019re made to fit over the entire tooth like a hat and are custom made to look and feel just like real teeth. To get a dental crown, your dentist will first numb your mouth and then take impressions of the damaged tooth. Then, she will remove the injured enamel and reshape the structure to accommodate your new restoration. Next, you\u2019ll be fitted with a temporary crown while your permanent prosthesis is crafted at a dental lab.
