Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
Our general dentistry services include regular exams. Every six months is considered the ideal time to see Dr. Glamm and her Upper Arlington dental team. During these twice-a-year visits, we’ll capture digital X-rays to examine the supporting dental structures, evaluate your dental health for signs of common oral health concerns, thoroughly clean teeth, and offer guidance for ongoing dental care.
We want you to have a great smile, so we always encourage our patients to create a daily oral hygiene routine that includes brushing for two minutes at a time at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day. We also offer dental healthcare education, so you have the information you need to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Our skilled dental hygienists would be happy to demonstrate and explain the best ways to brush and floss, answer your oral hygiene questions, and make recommendations for the best at-home hygiene products.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Stress, jaw misalignment, and several other factors may cause you to grind your teeth at night. This condition, called bruxism, often results in teeth becoming severely worn down or even cracked. The best way to protect your teeth from bruxism is to wear a nightguard, which is a simple oral appliance that can be customized to fit comfortably in your mouth. The nightguard will keep your teeth separated, preventing damage to the enamel and relieving some of the stress placed on your jaw.
The fluoride found in ADA-approved toothpaste and most tap water has properties that can help strengthen your enamel, protecting it from damage and decay. If your teeth are weaker than average or are particularly vulnerable to cavities, we can improve their defenses with a professional fluoride treatment. We’ll take a few minutes at the end of your visit to place a fluoride gel or varnish on your teeth; the process is painless, and the long-term results speak for themselves.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Almost 40,000 American adults will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year, and the likelihood of developing oral cancer increases with age. At the dental office of Dr. Jayme Glamm, we use the latest in oral cancer screening technology, including the VELscope system, to do life-saving oral cancer screenings. Catching the signs of oral cancer at the earliest possible opportunity is essential to the survival of oral cancer sufferers.
